On the English Translation of Exotic Animals in the Classic of Mountains and Seas

Abstract: This paper studies the problems of insufficient translation precision and poor effect of rare animals in "The Classic of Mountains and Seas". Through analyzing the characteristics and differences of Chinese and western literature, the author integrates the method of discription and contents of the exotic animals in The Classic of Mountains and Seas according to the research results, and proposes to rely on intertextuality to carry out the translation of special exotic animals. Finally, the empirical investigation proves that the translation theory of "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" proposed in this paper has higher acceptance and approval than the traditional translation methods.
