Application of Concept Grammatical Metaphor in Literary Translation

Abstract: Grammatical metaphor is first proposed by Halliday, a system functional linguist, and conceptual grammar metaphor is an important part of grammatical metaphor. Nominalization is one of the most impor-tant manifestation of conceptual grammatical metaphor. Due to the characteristics of literature itself, there is a great deal of use of nominalization in English literature. This important feature provides a brand new perspective for the translation of English into Chinese. This paper mainly provides some effective strategies and methods for the mutual translation of literary English into Chinese from the perspective of conceptual grammatical metaphor.
