Abstract: This paper introduces data envelopment analysis (DEA) intothe evaluation of China's railway transportation performance, By collectingdata on relevant indicators of the entire railway transportation industry ofChina Railways from 2001 to 2016, the indicators include: operating mileage, employment, number of passenger cars, number of trucks, number of locomotives, passenger turnover, freight turnover, using DEAP2.1 software to evaluate the efficiency of thedata, and to compare and analyze the results, and concluded that althoughChina's railway transportation industry has improved in technology, but theoperation Efficiency has still not been significantly improved, passenger andfreight capacity has failed to meet market development needs, and China'srailway operation efficiency still needs to be improved. Finally, it puts forwardspecific countermeasures and suggestions for improving the efficiency ofChina's railway operations.
