Abstract: The distributed control system (DCS) has been used in the industrial field since the 1980s. Nowa-days, it is the main means of production operation monitoring and control in the power industry. With the continuous improvement of control requirements in the application process, while satisfying the availability, there are higher requirements for the man-machine interface friendliness, the openness and the advancement of the DCS. However, DCS system has inevitably perished and lagged behind in technology as it runs for a long time. Therefore, how to upgrade the DCS system to satisfy the new requirements becomes a problem that the users must address. This paper explains the method and the precautions of upgrading the XDPS400+ DCS which has run for a long time to OC6000e Nexus, and hopes to help the projects that also face the same type of upgrading requirements.
